During my career I have been a Senior VP of Marketing (GM, MarCom, Channel Marketing, Events, Product Management and Strategic Alliances) and Sales/GM background (managing from 17 to 350 marketing and
sales people) that has worked in the entertainment industry (competing with Disney), high-tech publishing, software and hardware industry in packaged goods consumer retail applications, educational
software, Fortune 100 enterprise and semiconductor markets.
I have helped execute the launch of over 400 products from over 150 vendors including Lotus, Microsoft (multiple divisions), DCA/Attachmate, Adobe, Aldus, WordPerfect, HP, Xerox, IBM, Corel, Sony,
Delrina, Generic Cadd, Compaq, Ashton Tate, AOL, Delta Point, Autodesk, GoldMine, Disney, Creative Labs, Ingram Micro, Canon, Mitsubishi, Epson, Novel, Intel and wrote the strategic marketing plan
and lead the marketing team that published the world's #1 best selling software product at the time, Netscape Navigator.
On the accomplishment side, I have gone through five acquisitions, helped one of my previous companies to be acquired by Motorola, with profits and revenue at the prior companies reaching a record
high with annual growth at each previous company/division of 2,300%, 610%, 280% and 490%.
Career highlights also include helping to write the strategic marketing plan, finance (with $27 million capitalization) and launch Red Storm Entertainment with noted author Tom Clancy, the success with Netscape Navigator and participation in launching the Internet as a category (with three back-to-back bestsellers), the complete turnaround (with 280% growth) of the DCA/Attachmate Crosstalk product line (the 5th largest software company at the time), and the formation (as a VP of Sales and Marketing and one of the original 15 founders) of what became the world’s largest product launch start-up that grew to over 4,000 people.
Most recently, I headed up marketing for one of the Motorola $2 billion groups, an internal start-up division, headed software strategy--and sat on the seven person marketing board for the $9 billion semi-conductor sector of the $33 billion company. In addition, I served as a VP of Marketing within one of the highest growth sectors within $130 billion General Electric (GE).
I have been quoted by over 100 publications (including Newsweek, Marketing Computers, PC Magazine, Security, Computer Reseller News, Channel Advocate, Retail Week, Software Success, Entrepreneur
Magazine, etc.), numerous books including Tom Siebel’s “Cyber Rules,” “In Search of Stupidity - 20 Years of High-Tech Marketing Disasters,” wrote the forward and
contributed content to the 690 page, 2004 edition of “The Product Marketing Manager’s Handbook for Software,” plus have spoken at dozens of industry conferences including Comdex,
the Software Publisher’s Association, Seymore Merrin Conference, the Product Development Manager’s Association, and as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas MBA program
Currently, when not raising my five children, producing movies, or participating as a Boy Scout leader, I sit on the board of advisors and consult with several high-tech
startups.
