About This Section

This area of the Chanimal Web site is devoted to human resource and career issues. It includes everything from setting up and managing an effective organization that runs smooth, organized, and stable, to re-vamping the organization, to leaving it for a better fit.

Topics include:

Marketing Organization. The best opportunity you’ve got, could be within the company you’re in now. However, you may be in a dysfunctional organization that just needs fixing. As many high-tech companies grow quickly, the organization often needs adjustments to grow straight. Following is a sample marketing organization that shows how each member functions via the reporting structure.

Management Techniques.  Sometimes the marketing structure is fine--it is the style of management that needs help.  Visit this area to learn about Chanimal Management.

Job Descriptions.  Part of effective management is explaining expectations up front. This is typically done in the form of a job description. Included are job descriptions for most marketing positions. Additions are welcome.

Industry Salary Ranges.  As we try to build organizations it is helpful to know what it will cost per position.  It is also beneficial for us to see which areas we might specialize in to get the greatest return for our efforts.

Compensation Plans.  This area includes typical marketing salary bonus structures. It also includes different comp plans for various sales organizations (base, bonus, commission).

Contracts & Severance.  Once you have risen up the ladder you become more of a valuable commodity. It also becomes increasingly difficult for you to find as many similar positions (even if an organization has thousands of employees, there is just one President). It is essential for you to protect yourself against mergers, acquisitions, IPO’s, downsizing and new management with a formal agreement and a protective golden parachute.

Relocation Plans.  Whether considering a new location within your existing company or with another organization, you should be aware of the actual expenses for relocation. This area contains a couple of sample relo plans along with links to figure out the cost of living differences between areas.

HR Issues. Interview, hire and fire.  This area also includes a sample policy manual to help you get jump started.

Help Wanted & Recruiting.  In this section we review various on-line job search sites. There are also helpful hints for working with recruiters, a listing of recommended recruiters, and an occasional job search.
