Venture Capitalist, Angel Investors & Start-Up Advice

  • BusinessPartners. Business Partners is a global Internet based service that connects Entrepreneurs, Early Stage Companies and Established Corporations with Angel Investors, Venture Capital, Corporate Investors, Potential Partners and target data on Mergers and Acquisitions.
  • vFinance. A large directory of venture capital firms, angel investor networks, sample business plan templates, etc. Has good survey info and a clever quiz to determine if you’re ready to engage with VC’s yet.
  • Canadian VC Association. Contains links to Canadian VC firms to consider.
  • VCList. Contains a fairly comprehensive list showing hundreds of national VC’s, some are listed by location. Also available is a downloadable database of over 20,000 individuals within over 5,700 VC firms. Includes additional resources, including several interesting books, a VC calendar of events - Silicon Valley specific, and a newsletter.
  • NVCA. National Venture Capital Association. The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) is the trade association that represents the venture capital industry. Currently, the NVCA represents the majority of venture capital invested in U.S. based companies.
  • WAVC. Western Association of Venture Capitalist. Willing to send a free listing of VC membership. Also sell a listing that shows areas of interest, geographical preference, exertise, etc.
  • PubCoWhitePapers. Includes white papers explaining how to negotiate valuation, how to go public without using VC’s, etc. Very interesting content.
  • FundingPost. Showcases entrepreneurs who are raising capital to over $25 Billion of interested angel investors and venture capital investors. Helps match entrepreneurs with investors.
  • EzInfoFind. A comprehensive, categorized database of Venture Capital Firms that includes private equity firms, private investors, and investment companies. Free download, plus affordable database.
  • Startup Journal. TConstant fresh information about financing, how-to, contacts for help, etc. The last word on starting a business and entrepreneurial issues from The Wall Street Journal.
  • AllBusiness. Contains valuable VC advice, but also sample forms and investment term-sheets to review (bottom of page).
  • VenturePresentation. A site to help you present to VC’s. Contains free downloadable sample business plan, PowerPoint, valuation sheet, and finance models.
  • ZeroMillion. Taking it’s title from the author’s book, “Zero to Million,” this site contains a LOT of great articles about VC presentations, sources for VC’s, term sheet explanations, plus good information for running your business.
